National Center for Global Health and Medicine and the University of the Philippines Manila signed the agreement on the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding for collaborative research

Back in January 2018, NCGM and University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster a spirit of cooperation, reciprocity and mutual benefit to both parties through shared interest and expertise in the field of clinical research. Thereafter, both parties engaged in joint research collaborations, human resource education and training, data management and quality assurance activities and the establishment of a clinical research network. In order to reaffirm and strengthen the research partnership and to continue the collaboration by both parties, the NCGM President Dr. Norihiro Kokudo and the UPM Chancellor Dr. Carmencita D. Padilla agreed on 14th of January 2023 to extend MOU for another five years and signed on the extension agreement. NCGM, through the Clinical Research Center, aims to expand the clinical research network and facilitate international joint researches that will contribute to the prevention, treatment, and control of malaria and other neglected tropical and infectious diseases most especially those with epidemic threats.
The signing ceremony was held on March 8th, 2023 and was represented by Dr. Shigeyuki Kano (Department of Tropical Medicine and Malaria, Research Institute, NCGM) and Dr. Leslie Michelle Dalmacio (Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, UPM).
